A Properly Fitted No-Pull Harness is Completely Safe

A Properly Fitted No-Pull Harness is Completely Safe

The real key isn't that it's "no-pull"... it's that it fits perfectly!

When fitted properly, a quality no-pull harness is a GREAT training tools to make the difference in your dog's walking!

When designed well and adjusted correctly, a no-pull harness should feel secure and comfortable - never restrictive.

A Quality Harness Should Be:
Snug and secure but never tight
Sitting clear of the armpits
Positioned away from the soft throat area
Allowing full, natural shoulder movement

When these boxes are ticked, it will not damage muscles or restrict healthy movement.
Concerns about "muscle restriction" usually comes down to improper use. Restriction can  occur if a harness is:
X Too tight
X Poorly positioned
X Worn carelessly all day, every day (and with no proper supervision)

For normal use (walks, outings, training sessions) a well-designed harness is safe, supportive, and comfortable. As stated above, the only time restriction becomes a concern is if a harness is worn 24/7, tightened enough to leave marks, or causing rubbing or fur loss.

How do I put a No-Pull harness correctly on my dog?

Steps to Fit & Adjust our Harness

1. Loosen all straps first.
Before putting the harness on your dog, slightly loosen the adjustable straps. This makes it easier to position correctly without pulling or forcing it into place.
2. Position the harness correctly.
Place the harness over your dog’s head and ensure the chest strap with D-ring sits centered on the chest, not too high near the throat and not sitting under the armpits.
3. Secure the Buckles
Gently bring the straps around your dog’s body and clip the buckles together. Make sure no fur or skin is caught in the clips.
4. Adjust for a Snug, Comfortable Fit
Tighten each strap gradually, checking both sides for balance.
A properly fitted harness should be:
✔ Snug but not tight
✔ Allowing two fingers to slide comfortably under the straps
✔ Sitting clear of the armpits
✔ Not restricting shoulder movement
5. Check for Movement
Let your dog walk around indoors for a few minutes. Watch their shoulder movement and overall comfort. The harness should stay in place without shifting excessively or rubbing.
6. Recheck after First Walk
After your first walk, check the fit again. Straps can settle slightly, so minor adjustments may be needed.
